SALT Receipts Privacy Policy

This policy describes how the SALT Receipts iOS app handles information on your device.

We do not collect your data

SALT Receipts has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of ours that receive your receipts or tax figures. Optical character recognition runs on this device using Apple’s Vision framework.

What stays on your device (or in the folder you pick)

• Receipt photos and PDFs you capture or import
• Text read from those files (merchant, totals, dates, and the raw OCR text)
• Categories and flags you apply (including “big-ticket”)
• Tax-planning inputs you type (for example AGI, filing status, property tax, sales-tax rate)
• A learned map of merchant names to categories

You choose a folder in the Files picker (iCloud Drive or On My iPhone). Images and JSON are written there. If that folder is in iCloud Drive, Apple’s iCloud may sync it using your Apple ID — that is your iCloud account, not a service we operate. Tax-info JSON is stored as plaintext. Do not pick a folder you share publicly.

Permissions

• Camera — only to photograph receipts. We do not use the microphone.
• Photos — only the images you pick in the system picker. We do not browse your whole library.
• Files — only the folder you grant, so we can save and reopen receipts.

You can deny Camera or Photos and still import files. Paid features are not gated on granting these permissions.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent, or share personal information
• We do not track you across apps or websites
• We do not use your receipts to train models off-device

Retention and deletion

Data lasts until you delete a receipt in the app, delete files in the folder, change folders, or delete the app (On My iPhone data in the app container goes away; a folder you created in Files may remain until you delete it). There is no account to delete because there is no account.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We will update this policy here and in the app when our practices change.
